Reassigned Numbers Database Lookup

Right-party contact is key to compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act!

Every year in the United States, over 35 million telephone numbers are permanently disconnected and reassigned to new consumers.

The reassignment often happens within a very short time, sometimes within just a few days. That means the consumer’s telephone number you called last week with express consent may belong to someone else today. And, although the previously held permanently disconnected telephone number was transferred to a new consumer, your valid consent to contact the prior consumer does not transfer to the new consumer. Yikes!

What this means for you…

If you call the new consumer in error, under the TCPA, you could be liable for $500 to $1,500 per call. In the instants of a class action lawsuit, TCPA liability could be much, much higher.

Sounds scary, but no worries, friends.

The FCC has created the Reassigned Numbers Database RND to identify permanently disconnected telephone numbers and offer you a source for right-party contact. The centralized database is the official and only resource for organizations to check telephone numbers and verify if the telephone number has been permanently disconnected or if the phone number still belongs to the intended call recipient you have obtained consent to dial. RealPhoneValidation is your link to making the reassigned numbers database checks as simple as possible.

How does the Reassigned Numbers Database RND work?

Once a month, ALL US phone carriers must report permanently disconnected numbers to the FCC’s Reassigned Numbers Database administrator. RealPhoneValidation’s reassigned numbers database lookup provides you access to the FCC database. By providing a 10-digit telephone number and the last date you received consent to contact the consumer at that telephone number, you can quickly determine if that particular phone number has been reassigned after that date.
